A Rockingham man died on Monday after deputies said he fell from a ladder and was struck by a falling tree limb.

According to Richmond County Sheriff James Clemmons Jr., Aaron Little, a 68-year-old retired veteran, was cutting limbs in his yard, located at 1058 Ledbetter Road, when he fell from a ladder. A stray limb fell from the tree and struck Little, the sheriff said.

The man was discovered at approximately 11:28 a.m. when his home health nurse went to check on him and found him unresponsive.

The Sheriff’s Office and first responders were notified immediately.

“This is a very unfortunate accident,” said the sheriff on Monday.
