Macie Woods Prevatte, beloved mother and MaMa of Rockingham, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Richmond Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 20, 2012 at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham, with her grandson, Rev. Billy Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 8 pm at Watson-King Funeral Home and other times at her home at 106 Hannah Pickett 1st Avenue.

Macie was born February 15, 1929, to John T. and Ella Wright Woods. She was a homemaker and worked for several years as a door greeter at Wal-Mart, a job that she loved because she saw many old friends as well as made many new friends. She will be dearly remembered for her caring, loving personality, outstanding cooking, delicious cakes that she baked for many in the community, and her “prissy” ways and appearance. She will also be remembered for her heartfelt rendition of “Happy Birthday” whenever a friend or family members birthday rolled around. Above all, she will be remembered as a devoted and loving Mother and MaMa to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and loving friend to those who knew her.

Macie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy Prevatte, and sisters, Ruth V. Lynch and Ida B. Hunt.

She is survived by her son, Rick Prevatte and his wife Diane of Hamlet; daughters, Brenda Dennis of Rockingham, Candace Everett and husband Jerry of Rockingham, and step daughter, Dolores Adame and husband Rey of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Grandchildren, Billy Dennis and wife Sandy of Manteo, Ashley Turner and husband Chris of Rockingham, Neil Everett and wife Jessica of Claremont, B.J. Prevatte of Wilmington, Vicky Williams of Hamlet; Step grandchildren, Jr. Todd and wife Toni of Conway, SC, Mike Todd and wife, Sue of Fayetteville, and Ronnie Todd of Fayetteville; Great grandchildren, Heather and William Dennis, Neeley and CJ Turner, Richard and Rebekah Martin, William Bauguess, Gavin Payne; ten step great grandchildren and eight step great great grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Prevatte to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 US Hwy 1 N., Rockingham, NC 28379.

A wonderful lady who will me sorely missed. I'll never forget how crazy she was about Conway Twitty... Always had a smile to share.
