Miss Lillian Duer Smith and Mr. Michael Page Teer, junior, both of Wilmington, were married Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 6 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Robinson Smith, junior of Wilmington. She is the granddaughter of the late Doctor and Mrs. William Duer James of Hamlet, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Percy Robinson Smith of Wilmington.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Page Teer of Wilmington. He is the grandson of Mrs. William Parsley Emerson of Wilmington and the late Mr. Emerson, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Nello Leguy Teer, junior of Durham.
The Reverend Doctor Ernest Trice Thompson III officiated the ceremony. The wedding music was provided by Mr. Douglas Blair Leightenheimer, organist, and the wedding as directed by Mrs. Linda Patton Nance.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. Miss Eliza McLauchlin Smith of Mount Pleasant, S.C., sister of the bride, served as the Maid of Honor. Mrs. Jennette Page West of New York, N.Y., served as the Matron of Honor. Miss Emerson Elizabeth Teer of Wilmington, daughter of the groom, served as the Flower Girl.
Serving as honorary bridesmaids were Mrs. Alicia Ravenel Boyd and Mrs. Summers Clarke Lacy of Charleston, S.C.; Mrs. Erin Stratton Brady, Miss Lindsay Jane Stratton, and Mrs. Catherine Duncan Warfield of Charlotte; Mrs. Hilda Graham Harder of Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Allison Jones Hubbard of New York, N.Y.; Mrs. Allen Jordan Lee of Alexandria, Va.; Mrs. Sarah Swan O’Dea and Mrs. Stephanie Harris Sneeden of Raleigh; Mrs. Jenny McNeill Purvis and Mrs. Anne Murchison Williams of Wilmington.
Mr. Michael Page Teer of Wilmington served as his son’s Best Man. Mr. William Emerson Teer of Alexandria, Va., and Mr. John Alexius Teer of Chapel Hill, brothers of the groom, served as Groomsmen.
Serving as ushers were Mr. Michael Corbett Brown III, Mr. William Richard Gwathmey, Mr. Conner Cowden Keller, Mr. Christopher John Leonard, Mr. Joseph Stevenson Wells, and Mr. William Leaford Williams IV, all of Wilmington.
Mrs. Sarah Holt Wilson Gwathmey of Wilmington and Mr. Robert Morgan Sickles of Charlotte were the Greeters.
Following the wedding ceremony, a Garden Reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. On Friday evening, a Rehearsal Dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents and grandmother, was held at The Surf Club in Wrightsville Beach.
The bride is a graduate of Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va., and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Prior to her marriage, the bride served as the Town Clerk of the Town of Davidson, where she also served as the Human Resources Coordinator.
The groom attended Woodberry Forest School in Orange, Va., and graduated from Cape Fear Academy in Wilmington. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Hampden-Sydney College in Farmville, Va., and a Master in Business Administration from East Carolina University where he was selected for membership into Beta Gamma Sigma, the honors society for collegiate schools of business. Currently, Mr. Teer is a vice president and senior loan officer with TD Bank in Wilmington.
Following a wedding trip to the British Virgin Islands, Mr. and Mrs. Teer are residing in Wilmington.
