The historic 200 year old Knotts Island United Methodist Church of Knotts Island was the setting for the April 28, 2012, wedding of Sara Frederika Lenthall of Knotts Island and Bryan Braxton Greene of Rockingham. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Robert Green and Pastor Larry Brayton before a congregation of good friends and family.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted down the aisle by her father. She was dazzling in her ivory Blue by Enzoani gown. The dress was a chiffon mermaid silhouette which featured a strapless, soft sweetheart neckline on a finely ruched bodice. The stunning head-to-toe Alencon lace overlay led gracefully into a mermaid skirt with a scalloped hem train. For the ceremony, she wore a simple, elbow length veil. The bride fashioned her stunning bouquet from a variety of brooches collected from friends and family.
The matron of honor was a lifelong friend of the bride, Jen Ross of Seattle, Wash. Cousin and friend Rachel Burns of Chesapeake, Va., and friend Ashley Jones of Annandale, Va., served as bridesmaids. All of the attendants were lovely in their knee length marine blue dresses with handmade yellow bouquets. Nine month old Grace Dunn was adorable as the flower girl in her white and yellow summer dress.
The groom chose as his best man his lifelong friend Rick Dunn of Rockingham. John Player of Rockingham and KJ Garland of Charlotte were the groomsmen, while the bride’s brothers, Paul, Ellis and Sam Lenthall of Knotts Island, served as ushers. Donavan Greene, two year old nephew of the groom, was proud to be the ring bearer.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Ann Etheridge and the bride’s aunt, Faye Freeman, was the mistress of ceremonies.
The reception was held at the Hunt Club Farm in Virginia Beach, Va. It was decorated by the bride and groom with the help of family and friends. The delicious meal was provided by Mobile Pig-Nic. Music for dancing was courtesy of Tee Jay’s DJs. After dining and dancing, the couple left by town car to begin the first part of their honeymoon at the Beach Quarters Resort in Virginia Beach. On May 20, the couple left for a week in Jamaica. The newlyweds will be residing in Staunton, Va.
The evening before the wedding, the wedding party and invited guests were treated to an after rehearsal fiesta in the church’s fellowship hall catered by Moe’s Southwest Grill.
