Police are continuing to investigate the arrest of a Rockingham woman on drug trafficking charges last month.

On May 16, 2012, the Rockingham Police Department Vice Narcotics Division, with the assistance of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Vice Narcotics Division, arrested Kathryne Seago, 43, of Anson Avenue, Rockingham, for attempting to traffic in opiates, trafficking in cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to sell/deliver a schedule III controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle for the purchase of a controlled substance.

According to police, Seago purchased narcotics from a confidential informant. Members of both the Rockingham Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office narcotics divisions executed a vehicle stop where the narcotics were recovered, as well as other narcotics Seago had previously purchased in addition to approximately $1,500, lawmen said.

Federal authorities are currently looking into the case and considering the possibility of charging other suspects, police said, as well as any further charges for Seago.

Seago was placed in the Richmond County Jail under bond.
