Sylvia M. Ballard has joined the board of trustees of the Richmond Community Foundation (RCF).
A resident of Rockingham and graduate of Hardbarger Business School, Ballard is retired from FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital, where she worked as the coordinator of physician recruitment.
Ballard is active in the community, and served on the FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital board for the past eight years. She and her husband, Ron, are founding members of Hospital Foundation’s Scroll Society. Ballard is a past board member of the Richmond County Hospice, and currently serves on the Rockingham Historic Preservation Board and the McLaurin Vocational Center Board in Hamlet. She is also a member of the Richmond County Historical Society.
Additionally, Ballard serves on the administrative council and worship committee of First United Methodist Church in Rockingham, and co-chairs the position of Sunday school superintendent.
Other RCF board members include: Russell Bennett, Robert Hutchinson, Frank Jenkins, Paul Smart, Roger Staley and Bruce Stanback.
The Richmond Community Foundation was established in 2001 as the result of the sale of Richmond Memorial Hospital. RCF provides support to qualified programs and projects in health care, education, economic development and other services that enhance the quality of life for the people and communities of Richmond County. The Foundation has provided more than $15.5 million to worthy organizations — including the recent gift to start Discovery Place Kids-Rockingham — since its creation.
