This letter is in response to Mrs. Sheetz’s letter in Thursday’s (May 3) paper.
As the Director of the Humane Society of Richmond County, I must clarify that the City of Rockingham nor the County Commissioners had any involvement with the recent Animal Wellness Clinic that was cancelled.
The event was to be hosted by our local humane society and the Humane Society of the United States.
Due to various conflicts of interest, the event was cancelled. I want to stress the fact that the City of Rockingham and the Richmond County Board of Commissioners have always been very supportive of our organization and to my knowledge they knew nothing about the planned event.
I feel that the community should be well-informed of what the city and county leaders have done and continue to do to support the efforts of The Humane Society of Richmond County.
