The Rev. Douglas Tuck, 78, of Pavillion, Wyoming, formerly of Rockingham, died Friday, May 4, 2012 at his home.
Herman Douglas Tuck was born April 5, 1934 in Rockingham, NC, a son of the late Herman and Blennie Mae Snead Tuck. Upon completion of high school, he had served as an apprentice with Fisher Body/Chrysler and was a Journeyman Tool and Dye maker. When he was 22 years old he was called into the Christian ministry and served a total of 44 years in the ministry. He held credentials through the Church of the Nazarene and served 12 years in the Nazarene pastorate. The remainder of his ministry was at the non-denominational Community Church in Rockingham. He served pastorates in Nebraska, Washington, Michigan and North Carolina. He had also worked with CSX Railroad. Following his retirement from Community Church, the family moved to Pavillion, Wyoming. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, woodworking and was an avid reader.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Joan Elizabeth Martin Tuck of the home; son, Jon Douglas Tuck of Greenville, SC; daughter, Jamie Elizabeth Tuck Johnston of North Richland Hills, TX; grandchildren, Ryan Douglas Turner, Joan Elizabeth Turner, Jess M. Johnston, IV, and Austin M. Johnston. Also surviving are a sister Virginia Kime of Sunset Beach, NC and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11 am at the Community Church in Rockingham, with Rev. Jon Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Northam Cemetery.
The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
