Why are we so surprised?

Dear Editor,

Why are we so surprised to hear about GSA (General Services Administration) spending $823,000 for a Las Vegas conference that was held in October 2010?

From City Hall to States Capital to Washington, D.C., and to the social network there is a culture of the budget. Instead of rewarding the Superior or others in leadership of the departments for saving the tax payer money that was budgeted and thus our taxes could be cut.

The culture is this, it is (May) and budget time and word comes down from up high you still have money in your budget and you better spend those thousands or millions of dollars or we will be cutting your next budget.

When a county is getting money through a “grant” there is an attitude of “it’s free money,” yet it still comes from where?

It still comes from you and me, the taxpayer. Whether it comes from Washington, D.C., or Raleigh. When we do hear the news of waste, is anything really done about it?

No! What we really know is someone just got caught. So why are we so surprised when we hear that the government blew $592,000 on a study last year to figure out why chimpanzees throw poop?

The only way to stop wasteful spending and other abuses is to vote out those who want a career of Robin Hood. Taking money to give it to someone else for their re-election.
