Dear Editor,

As the Mayor of Hamlet, N.C., and a resident of Richmond County, I am announcing my support of Gene McLaurin for the 25th District Seat of the NC Senate.

It has been an honor to serve on a professional level with Gene in his capacity as Mayor of Rockingham. While he has worked tirelessly over the past 15 years to improve the economic and social status of the city he represents, Gene has always strived for the best interests of our entire county. It is my experience that he is extremely committed, accessible, and professional. He gets out into the community, listens to the people and gets involved in finding solutions. On a personal level, Gene is one of the most kind and sincere people you will ever meet. He treats all with respect and fairness.

Gene is valued throughout the local community and the state as one that is proactive in seeking solutions to challenges. He is a visionary that looks beyond current situations and works cooperatively to find resolutions. The strong relationships he has developed as a local elected official and businessman across the state will assist him in the legislative process in the General Assembly.

I have no doubt that Gene will be a steadfast representative for all citizens of Richmond County and, knowing the extraordinary public servant that he is, he will represent all of Anson, Scotland, Stanly and Rowan counties as well.

I urge All persons in the 25th District to UNITE together. Now is not the time to be DIVIDED by municipal or county boundaries. Join with me to send the one person that will work diligently for ALL the interests of ALL our communities. Vote for dedication, fairness and experience. Vote for Gene McLaurin for NC Senate.
