The Friends of the Thomas H. Leath Memorial Library will hold their annual meeting on Monday at 6 p.m. in the Calvin Little Room of the library.
The agenda includes reports on activities and projects as well as election of next year’s officers.
“The library budget has seen severe cuts in recent years. Due to these challenges, the Friends executive board decided to use funds for library equipment instead of a meeting speaker. We have ordered a dozen new task chairs for the public computers,” reported outgoing President Anne Thrower. “There will be a special bonus gift for those members attending the meeting,” she added.
Membership in the Friends group is open to anyone in the community interested in supporting the library and its programs. The Friends sponsor a book sale and other fund raising projects, with the proceeds providing equipment and programs not covered in the library’s operating budget. Library services are provided by government funds from Richmond County, the City of Rockingham, and the Sandhill Regional Library System. Membership forms for Friends of the Library are available at the checkout desk.
