Charles “Charlie” Edward Wilder Sr., 71, of 340 Buttercup Dr., Hamlet, died Sunday, April 15, 2012, in the Reid Heart Center of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Philadelphia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Walter E. McLeod officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Hodges-Little Memorial Funeral Service, 511 Rockingham Road, Rockingham.

Public viewing will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Mr. Wilder will be in peaceful repose on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Wilder was born Dec. 31, 1940, in Sumpter, S.C., a son of the late Hezekiah and Fannie Wilder. He was a member of Little Brown Mission Union AME Church in Bronx, N.Y. He was a retired truck/bus driver.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Maxine B. Hinnant; and five brothers, Robert, Melvin, Albert, Leroy and Hezekiah Wilder Jr.

Surviving are his wife, Ola Brown Wilder of the home; a son, Charles E. Wilder Jr. of Bronx, N.Y.; four daughters, Bernadine B. Farley of Bronx, N.Y., Annette B. Bell of Jamestown, N.Y., Christine B. Barnes of Rockingham and Vanessa B. Bennett of Lexington Park, Md.; six sisters, Rosa Barnes and Delores Farmer of Fayetteville, Mary Sinclair of Hope Mills, Earlene Gripper of Jamacia Queens, N.Y., Lillie Mack and Iona Peoples of Cedarville, N.J.; 32 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Services are entrusted to Hodges-Little Memorial Funeral Service of Rockingham.
