LUMBERTON — Earlier this season, Lumberton rallied from a two-goal deficit to knock off Richmond Senior.
The Pirates did it again Wednesday night to defeated the Raiders 4-3 in double overtime.
After trailing 3-1 at halftime, Lumberton’s Michaela Nash scored four minutes into the second extra period off a rebound to complete the comeback. It was the second game-winning goal by Nash against Richmond this season.
“It was very similar to the game at our place,” Richmond coach Bennie Howard said. “They came out in the second half and tied it. We had some chances to take the lead, but we didn’t convert them.”
Lashonda York netted two goals for the Raiders (7-9-1, 3-4-1), while Brittany Hudson had the other tally in the loss. Abigail Videl had an assist for Richmond.
Nash finished with two goals, while Nicole Bass also added two goals for the Pirates (10-4-2, 6-2).
Richmond is slated to return to the pitch at 7 p.m. Friday at home against Jack Britt.
In the junior varsity contest, the Pirates blanked the Raiders, 3-0.
