MASONIC MEETING: Stated Communication; Dinner at 6:15 p.m., meeting at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 14, at Hamlet Masonic Lodge No. 532 A.F. & A.M., 307 Main St., Hamlet.

JUNE 15

GOSPEL SINGING at 6 p.m. at Victory Deliverance COGIC, located on 5th Street just before WKDX radio station in Hamlet. The public is invited.

SINGING JUBILEE - The orange team group of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church in the Mizpah community of Rockingham will sponsor a Singing Jubilee. The Jubilee will be held June 15 at 7 p.m. at “The Springs.” Different choirs from various communities have been invited to participated. The Steele Sisters from the Philadelphia community will be one of the many performing groups. Everyone is invited to “The Springs” for this musical celebration.

PLATE SALE held by New Bethel AME Zion Church beginning at 12 p.m. Price is $7 per plate. Five or more may be delivered. On the menu: Chopped BBQ with baked beans, slaw, dessert and a roll OR fried chicken (w/d) with potato salad, cabbages, dessert and a roll.

RICHMOND COUNTY PSR will be holding a Father’s Day Raffle with a Hot Dog and Bake Sale on Friday, June 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be located at 1385 Cauthen Drive in Rockingham. Bake sale items will include pies, cakes, cookies and brownies. Cake slices are $1, hot dogs with chips and drink are $2, and raffle tickets will be sold for $1. Prizes for the Father’s Day raffle are as follows: A $25 Visa Card for first place, a $20 gas card for second place and a Father’s Day gift basket for third place. DROP BACK DANCE - The Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church Women’s Ministry will be sponsoring a Drop Back into the 50’s, 60’s or 70’s dance on June 15 at the Lockhart-Taylor building in Wadesboro from 7 to 11 p.m. Come dressed in your best decade and win great door prizes. There will be food, music, and great fellowship. Everyone is welcome. Adult tickets are $10 and children (5-17) are $5. Tickets will be available in advance or at the door. THE NORTH CAROLINA YOUTH SHOOTING FOUNDATION (NCYSF) is open for students grade 4 to grade 12. Practices will be held at Dewitt’s on the Monday before the tournament at 6 p.m. The next tournament will be June 16 at DeWitt’s. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m., shooting starts at 10 a.m. WARM-UP 15 birds for $5. Rookie will be shooting the 5 stand. Intermediate and Advanced will be shooting the course. ALL shooters will be shooting 50 birds for $15. Please come out and be involved! We need donations and sponsors. CANCER BENEFIT - June 16 at 4 p.m. at Ford’s Blue Grass, 134 City Lake Drive, Rockingham. Proceeds gathered will benefit Pam Felix. “Last Minute Blue Grass” will be performing live bluegrass. PRE-FATHER’S DAY FELLOWSHIP MARCH - Sponsored by Men On A Mission and Hoffman Parks and Recreation. Begins at 8:30 a.m. on Seaboard Street (directly behind Fletcher’s Chapel Church). The group will march to Hoffman Parks and Recreations Complex at 106 Thompson St. All physically able males ages 8 and up are invited. Special guests include Grand Marshal Bobby Collins and marshals Sheriff James Clemmons Jr. and local pastors.

DOBBINS HEIGHTS CONCERNED CITIZENS will be sponsoring a car wash on Saturday, June 16 from 9 a.m. until. The car wash will be located at 287 Earle Franklin Drive in Dobbins Heights (beside Mayor Blue’s house). Everyone is asked to participate and/or bring a donation.

BLOOD DRIVE - Located in the Fellowship Hall at First Baptist Church in Rockingham from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Donors should eat high iron-rich foods 2 weeks before donating blood. STATED COMMUNICATION - Monday, June 18, Rockingham Masonic Lodge # 495 will have Stated Communication. Special guest will be Grandmaster of North Carolina, and Dist. Officers. B.T. Phillips Jr. and Stan Wilson will be awarded their 60 years in masonary pins by the Grand Master of North Carolina. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., the lodge will open as a Stated Communication.

NORMAN COMMUNITY WATCH PROGRAM will meet Monday, June 18, at the Norman Community Building at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. If you are a community within 10 miles of Norman and would like to start a program in your community, come to Norman and the officers can and will get you started.

4TH OF JULY FAMILY FUN DAY IN HAMLET - Located on Main Street from 5 p.m. until after the fireworks. Music will be presented by Ponder Blue. There will be a dunking booth, corn hole, tricycle race, Ride the Duck Express Train, rubber obstacle course and slide, watermelon eating contest, clowns and balloons. Tour the Depot Museum and Annex (Tornado Building). Hamburgers/hot dogs, soft drinks, funnel cakes, shaved ice, ice cream and nachos will be for sale. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the fireworks beginning at 9 p.m.

JULY 7

KIDS DAY AT THE ROCK - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rockingham Dragway. Youth must be accompanied by at least one adult. One adult is admitted free with every youth between the ages of 6 and 17 (limit 3 kids per adult). Special performances by “Miko,” RHA Step Team, guest speakers and motorcycle stunts. EAST ROCKINGHAM UNITED METHODIST CHURCH MEN’S CLUB will sponsor a Pancake Breakfast Saturday, July 14 from 7 to 10 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. Charge is $4 for all you can eat. A sweets and crafts sale will be held at the same time.

PANCAKE SUPPER on July 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ellerbe Civitan Building (off Crawford Road in Ellerbe). Cost will be $5 per person. All proceeds go to benefit the North Carolina Baptist Aging Ministry.
