Mr. Thomas Edward “Ed” McLendon, 86, of 119 Glory Road, Hamlet, died, Monday, January 16, 2011, at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 30, 1925 in Richmond County, son of Benjamin Franklin McLendon and Mary Maude Cole McLendon.

Mr. McLendon was a Disabled WWII Veteran serving in the US Army, a member of Hamlet DAV Chapter 59, AM Vets and a member of The Purple Heart Club.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at Harrington Funeral Home from 7:00-9:00 pm

The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Wallace, SC

He is survived by his wife, Shelby Jean Brisson McLendon of the home; daughters, Linda Teal and husband Dennis of Hamlet and Elaine Nunley of Rockingham; son, Richard McLendon and wife Lajuna of Charlotte; step-daughters, Regina Wallace of Rockingham, Dianne Webb of Cordova, Marti Stutts of Rockingham, Norma Parks of Hamlet, and Dede Wilkes of Matthews; step son, Bernie Driggers of Hamlet; sister, Annie Cohoon of Wallace, SC; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
