The reward money to find the killer of a Hoffman man continues to grow.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has received another donation for clues about the murder of Michael Lee Newby. The latest reward, which has been offered by an unnamed Hoffman resident, is set at $1,000, according to an announcement by the Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.

This donation can be coupled with a $500 reward by Barry Bostick of Bostick BP. The Sheriff’s Office and CrimeStoppers have also offered rewards for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for Newby’s death.

Newby, a well-known member of the Hoffman community, was found dead on Nov. 21 beside the railroad tracks near Rushing Road. He had been shot to death.

There are currently no new leads, said Sheriff James Clemmons Jr.

While the Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case, members of the Hoffman community have also joined efforts to help gather more information about Newby’s death. Rewards, such as those by Bostick and an anonymous resident, are being offered so that anyone with important information is encouraged to step forward.
