Nominations for the next Richmond County “Citizen of the Year” are being accepted now. Nominations may be made by an individual, organization, club or group.
The Citizen of the Year award is presented annually by the Chamber of Commerce and is recognized as the county’s highest honor. The recipient is chosen based on factors regarding their contribution to the community either during the year, or over the course of their lives.
Nominations for the award come from chamber members and the community who see these extraordinary individuals in action day in and day out. The Board of Directors will announce the recipient in mid December. This prestigious community service award is then presented to the recipient at the Chamber’s Annual Banquet in January 2012.
The recipient need not be members; however, the recipient must have shown distinguished and dedicated service beyond the scope of their regular work life, and their actions should enhance the quality of life for Richmond County.
If this describes someone you know, stop by the chamber office to pick-up a nomination form. The form can then be mailed or dropped off at the Chamber of Commerce, 101 W. Broad Avenue, P.O. Box 86, Rockingham, N.C. 28380.
For more information call 910-895-9058.
Deadline to submit a nomination is Friday, Dec. 2, 2011.
