Chicken and biscuits are on the menu Saturday for those in search of a free lunch.

Bojangle’s on East Broad Avenue in Rockingham will hold a “Back to School Bash” Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. featuring food, entertainment and activities. Admission is free and open to all ages.

This will be the first event of its kind Bojangles has held in Rockingham.

“All our Bojangles’ team members in Rockingham are looking forward to not only celebrating the last couple of weeks of summer but also celebrating our loyal customers in the area,” Field Marketing Manager Ken Reynolds said. “Everyone who comes out for our Back to School Bash will enjoy three great local bands as well as Bojangles’ world-famous chicken, made-from-scratch biscuits and legendary iced tea. This family-friendly event is sure to be fun for all ages.”

Three musical acts will perform: Embracing Tomorrow, Ben Newton and Bryan Barber.

Bojangle’s Public Relations Coordinator Kate Venuto explained the restaurant franchise hopes to show appreciation to its customers in Rockingham with this event.

“Bojangles’ is always looking for ways to support the local community, and we thought hosting a Back to School Bash would be a fun way to celebrate the end of the summer with our loyal customers,” she said in a Tuesday e-mail. “There will be something for everyone at the Back to School Bash, from a clown to live music and a prize wheel.”

She added it also gives people a chance to try their “Famous Chicken ‘N’ Biscuits.”

Bojangle’s Champion Motocross Driver Dawson Horne and former ADHDRA Pro Dragster National Champion Mark Cox will be at the event to meet and greet customers, and the Bojangle’s prize wheel will include items like t-shirts, gift cards, hats, food coupons and koozies.

In addition, Flutter-By the Clown will be there with face painting and balloon characters for children of all ages.
