Special to the Journal

Charlie Melvin and Ibrahim Darwish have been selected to represent Richmond Senior High School in the quest for the N.C. State University Park Scholarship.

The merit scholarship is a four-year award valued at about $75,000.

A stipend for the purchase of a personal computer is also provided along with additional funding for academic enrichment activities, involving special trips, retreats, seminars and grant opportunities.

The Park Scholarship was established in 1996, for the late Roy H. Park, a 1931 North Carolina State University alumnus.

The two students will advance to the next level of competition.
