ROCKINGHAM — A woman is charged with assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing a man.

According to a warrant, 31-year-old Alice Michelle Duncan of Seago Lane stabbed a Moore County man in his right lower thigh with “a large butcher knife,” an injury that required “numerous stitches.”

The assault took place May 26, the warrant states.

Duncan was arrested by Richmond County sheriff’s deputies three days later and jailed under a 48-hour domestic violence hold.

Online court records show Duncan is also facing an out-of-county probation violation.

According to the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction, Duncan is on probation with a 24-month suspended sentence following a December 2014 misdemeanor larceny conviction in Moore County.

In 20113, Duncan was convicted on a misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle without a license. The previous year, she was convicted on misdemeanor charges of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, breaking and entering and criminal contempt.
