SOUTHERN PINES — Pinecrest edged Richmond Senior on the mats, winning eight of 14 matches to post a 34-30 victory in Thursday’s dual meet.

Matthew Garner defeated Richmond’s Gabriel Zenteno by decision in the 106-pound class and the Patriots’ Hunter Wood won a major decision over Isaiah Davenport at 113 pounds. Connor Overbey received a forfeit win for Pinecrest in the 120-pound class and teammate Alex Contreras (126 pounds) won a decision over the Raiders’ Jose Gomez.

Bryan Marsh (132 pounds) pinned Alex Blake to put Richmond on the board and Trinity Hunt (138 pounds) followed up with a victory by decision over Pinecrest’s Jason Callaham.

The Patriots’ Oscar Ybarra (145 pounds) took down Jayshuan Jasper by pinfall and Austin Unger (152 pounds) beat Richmond’s Corey Smith by decision.

Dominique Everette won a sudden victory over Pinecrest’s Connor Patton in the 160-pound class.

Pinecrest’s Will Herbert (170 pounds) received a win by disqualification against Damontre Bennett. Tanner Ray (182 pounds) earned a win by decision over Richmond’s Josh Feldman.

The Raiders swept the following three matches as Luke Souder (195 pounds) pinned Mason Wagner, Antoine Shaw (220 pounds) scored a sudden victory over Tanner Krietlow and Robert David (285 pounds) received a win by forfeit.

Richmond will travel to Scotland for a conference meet on Wednesday.
