A high speed chase that began in Hamlet and ended in Laurinburg resulted in an arrest Wednesday night, police said. This morning, members of the community will gather on the Richmond County Courthouse steps to recognize National Law Enforcement Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day. At 11 a.m. Richmond County Sheriff James E. Clemmons Jr. will begin the ceremony by opening the program. The guest speaker of the event will be Rockingham Police Chief Billy Kelly. The event will last about an hour, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
