Friends of the Hamlet Public Library recently held their spring fund raiser. They raffled off a Mother’s Day basket filled with items donated by the Friends of the Library, Walmart, Belk, and Café Main Street. The raffle was held on May 9, 2013. This morning, members of the community will gather on the Richmond County Courthouse steps to recognize National Law Enforcement Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day. At 11 a.m. Richmond County Sheriff James E. Clemmons Jr. will begin the ceremony by opening the program. The guest speaker of the event will be Rockingham Police Chief Billy Kelly. The event will last about an hour, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

After two years of study, 29 graduates of the Lillian Duer James School of Nursing at Richmond Community College celebrated completion of their Associates Degree Nursing (ADN) program at a pinning ceremony Thursday night, May 9, at the Cole Auditorium in Hamlet, N.C.
