Carolina Insurance Providers, LLC has made a $25,000 gift designated for general support to the comprehensive capital campaign for Discovery Place KIDS–Rockingham. The gift, to be used for ongoing building renovation, exhibition and program development, long-term support, maintenance and more recognizes the ongoing support from area business leaders.

“As a member of the campaign corporate committee, I believe in and support Discovery Place KIDS–Rockingham and have been on board 100 percent since we first learned about the project,” said Sandra Barnhardt, co-owner of Carolina Insurance Providers. “We know that providing a high-quality educational environment for our children is an investment in the future of Richmond County. We encourage other small businesses to join us in supporting Discovery Place KIDS.”

“Watching Discovery Place KIDS–Rockingham come to life has truly united our community,” said Jeff Barnhardt, co-owner of Carolina Insurance Providers. “We are honored to be able to invest in such an extraordinary educational endeavor that will brighten the region and the faces of its smallest residents, including our grandchildren.”

Carolina Insurance Providers, a personal, property and commercial insurance agent serving the Sandhills region, focuses its business on providing exceptional customer service. From comprehensive consulting to individual solutions tailored to each unique client, the company emphasizes respectability, reliability, expertise and professionalism when assisting with insurance contracts, filing claims, continuing insurance needs and more.

“Carolina Insurance Providers puts a special emphasis on long-term relationships with customers and we are humbled that they are making that same kind of commitment to Discovery Place KIDS–Rockingham,” said John Mackay, president and CEO, Discovery Place, Inc. “They are an important part of the vibrant spirit of this community and we are grateful to have Sandra serving on our campaign corporate community committee.”

The interactive learning museum for children is being constructed in the former McKenzie Furniture building on East Washington Street in downtown Rockingham.

The Discovery Place KIDS–Rockingham campaign was initiated with a commitment of $6.6 million from the Cole Foundation and the Richmond Community Foundation, gifts that were facilitated by The Foundation For The Carolinas. Currently under construction and expected to open early next year, the museum will be an interactive learning-through-play experience designed to encourage early childhood skills, imagination and creativity. Discovery Place KIDS–Rockingham will be led by Director Katie Rohleder, whose hire was announced last week.
