The pre-race concert on Saturday, April 13, at the Rockingham Speedway promises to be bigger this year. The city of Rockingham and Rockingham Speedway have brought in three bands to perform at the concert instead of one.
This year’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at The Rock presented by Cheerwine will see performances from the Chris Lane Band, Ty Brown and the Hoss Howard Band.
Plans to make this event bigger than last year’s began in April 2012.
Andy Hillenburg, Rockingham Speedway president, said that he wanted to find a way to make this year’s race better.
“The entire staff, our sponsors and the competitors did a great job at last year’s inaugural event, but we weren’t content. It had to be bigger and better in 2013,” Hillenburg said.
The concert, which will be outside of turn two at the speedway, will start when the Chris Lane Band takes the stage at 6 p.m., after the NCWTS garage closes.
The Chris Lane Band is a country music group that comes out of Kernersville. Members of the group are Chris Lane, lead vocals and guitar; his twin brother Cory Lane, drums; Joseph Pope, lead guitar; Dean Kreseski, lead guitar and Tom Sale, bass.
Chris said, “We’re really excited to be coming back to perform at Rockingham Speedway! We had a great time last year playing the event, and can’t wait to get back out there this year. I’m really looking forward to playing our new music to a great crowd in an awesome setting with other great artist on the bill! CLB is ready to bring it on!”
After the Chris Lane Band rocks the stage, Ty Brown will follow at approximately 7:40 p.m..
Ty Brown, a West Point, Miss., native, is a country musician. After Brown plays his music, the headlining band will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.
Hoss Howard Band, the headliner, has been a part of the Coca-Cola race activities for the past two years, playing at both the Charlotte Motor Speedway and Speed Street.
“The city of Rockingham has been unbelievable in their (Hoss Howard Band) support,” said Hillenburg.
The Hoss Howard Band plays Southern rock and country-style music.
“Hoss and the guys are phenomenal performers and we are thrilled to have them as part of our show next month,” Hillenburg said.
Admission to the concert is free to anyone holding a ticket for the Saturday or Sunday race.
