Thomas Clark, 79, died on Dec. 1, 2012, in the Veteran’s Hospital in Durham.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Nelson Funeral Service of Rockingham.

A public viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home.

Clark was born on July 31, 1933, to the late Daniel Clark and Dorethea Blackwell Cloyd. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1953 through 1956. Clark received his Masters Degree in Education at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. Clark was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church until his death. He was employed by the Richmond County School System. Clark began his career as an Elementary School Teacher and was later given a principal position at Rosenwald Elementary School. He also served as Principal at Leak Street and later Washington Street Elementary School until he retired. He is preceded in death by a son, Aris Webster Clark.

He is survived by his wife, Dennie Mae Clark of the home, four sons, Ricky Gerald Ingram of Rockingham, Andwain DuBois Clark and Archilles Harlan Clark of Hamlet, and Algernon Gustavus Clark (wife Kortni Clark) of Greensboro, 14 grand children, 23 great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Nelson Funeral Service of Rockingham, is assisting the family.

I have fond memories of Mr. Clark when he taught at Rockingham Junior High. Rest with the angels dear man........
