With holiday shopping just around the corner, small businesses across the county are preparing for shoppers.

Jennifer Wrenn, owner of Wrenn’s Jewelers in Rockingham, said they will be open on Thanksgiving Day, from 2 to 7 p.m., on Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Special sales include $10 jelly watches, $10 sterling silver studs, sterling silver Journey necklaces for $20, half-carat diamond earrings for $199 and Citizen watches 25 percent off.

“We will have door prizes. Register to win,” said Wrenn.

The Wrenns have been at their new location since July. Before that, they owned Jennifer’s Jewelers.

“Business is going great. We have a lot of local customers and repeat customers over the years have always been loyal. We hope everyone shops local,” she said.

Wrenn’s Jewelers is located at Richmond Plaza Shopping Center on Highway 74, beside Belk.

Rockingham Guns and Ammo owner Robert Lee said he will extend his hours for holiday shoppers as well. His store will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., until Jan. 1. He said he is offering various deals and sales. He is even offering a tax break to customers.

“For every purchase made in cash, I will pay back the taxes,” said Lee. “The taxes still have to be paid, but I will pay that. I’ve been doing that because in this day and time, every bit helps. I try to do the best I can with pricing, because it’s tough and some people have kids.”

Lee’s store is located at 410 E. Broad Ave. (Highway 74) in Rockingham.

Cosmos Fashion on Highway 74 sells casual wear for young people. They have prepared for the holiday shopping season too.

“We have a lot of sales going on now,” said retail associate Mi Pyon. “We have a lot of things marked down. We have shirts, Polos and Timberland boots. Some sales are as low as half-price.”

R.W. Goodwin Co. furniture store in Rockingham on Lee Street is having a “Legendary Thanksgiving sale” on Saturday.

“We’ve got some terrific buys on furniture, flat screen TVs and mattresses,” said owner Ken Goodman. “We probably have the biggest selection. We’ve hired extra staff and boosted our inventory. We’re looking to make sure we have what people are looking for.”
