He was born in Richmond County on April 27, 1943, a son of the late James and Pearleen Derry Goodwin. He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Hamlet.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at 3 p.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy Tyson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Public viewing is today, Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, from 1 - 7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Service in Hamlet.
He is survived by one sister, Minnie L. Ellerbe of Hamlet; three brothers, Ray R. Goodwin, Randolph Goodwin and Charles Goodwin of Hamlet.
Nelson Funeral Service of Hamlet is serving the family.
