Raiders win tournament title

SANFORD - The Richmond Senior baseball team outlasted Union Pines, 11-9, to capture the Southern Lee baseball tournament Saturday night.

The teams were tied at five, before the Raiders pulled away for the victory.

James Buie earned the win in relief of Bradley Brown. Buie hurled 3 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and striking out six.

Jeremy Smith, who was named the tournament's MVP, was 2-of-4 with a triple in the win. Brown went 2-for-3 with four runs batted in, while Austin Brower was 2-of-4 with a double and 3 RBIs.

Brown and Brower were also named to the all-tournament team as was Ryan Mercer.

The Raiders will return to action at 5 p.m. Monday at South View to complete a suspended game. Richmond leads 4-0 in the top of the second.
