Mrs. Effie Rovena Grant Parker, 84, of 104 Gardenia Street, Rockingham, passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday, November 11, 2012, surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born in Richmond County November 28, 1927, daughter of Jesse Marvin Grant and Mary Belle Chavis Grant. Before retirement she worked in textiles and attended Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Harrington Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm.

The Funeral will be Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Wallace, SC, with Rev. Frank McQuage officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

Mrs. Parker is preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, Pete Parker; son, Pete Wayne Parker; brothers, Robert, Homer and Marvin Grant; and sisters, Shadie Huckabee, Elsie Carpenter and Annie Faye Johnson.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane Bookout (Leonard) of Rockingham; sister, Velva Hamilton of Cordova; special niece, Annie G, Bowman; three grandchildren, Sandy Lynn Grooms (Willie) of Hamlet, Robin Knight Pierce (David) of Hamlet and Martin Knight, Jr. (Tina) of Ellerbe; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a very special neighbor of 46 yrs., Mrs. Lydia Pratt; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Scotland County Hospice for all their special and compassionate care of Mrs. Parker.
