Dear Editor,

Charles Pope you have not been given unfair treatment towards you or your P3 Club. You came to me one night in Sara’s Saloon, and said you were going to open up a club and what you needed to do. I told you to call the ABC agent and he would tell you the paper work you would need. I also told you the ABC agent would tell you the alcohol laws and he was there to answer any questions. I also said the police would work with you anyway they could. Just talking to you and the way you talked, I knew you were going to run your club the way you wanted with disregard of the rules of the ABC agent, police department, and the ABC store. I was truly surprised you stayed open over a year.

Quit whining about it being racial. You have no respect for rules and you didn’t enforce any rules on your patrons, black or white, therefore resulting in violence. As far as racial slurs, I don’t think that any self respecting police officer who values their job would dare yell out racial slurs.

I have called the police to Sara’s Saloon over the years when we could not possibly handle a patron. Two different occasions patrons were taken in by the police. There was no violence, harassing, or foul language from the officers. The officers handled the patrons in a very professional way.

Yes, cones were put in the driveways of the parking lot across the street of your club. The store owners were tired of picking up bottles, broken or whole, cans, paper and other trash.

It seems like to me, while I was reading this article, you don’t want to take the responsibility of the problems of your club. It seems to me, you want to blame it on everyone else. If you would do your job, the police won’t have to do their job.

As far as the six to 12 police cars sitting across the street from your club, I wished you had a picture of that. It would have gone good in the picture slide show at the Police Christmas Party.

Keep up the good work Chief Kelly and the Rockingham Police Department.
