Dear Editor,

On May 10 in the evening, my husband found our beloved cat DEAD on the side of road in front of our house on North Lee Street. She had been hit by a vehicle.

You know who you are. She did not stand a chance. You could have stopped and come to our house to let us know what had happened. Maybe we could have gotten her help before it was too late. You could have at the very least apologized!

I just wanted to let you know that she was not just some random stray cat wondering the streets. She did not always like staying in the house. That was why she was outside that night. She thought it was her job to roam the yard and keep us safe from other cats and dogs that may come come through.

She was part of our family. Her name was Tory! She was our princess, our baby girl! She loved chasing crickets, wrestling with our other cats, loving on her buddy Merle who just so happens to be a Golden Retriever and she loved curling up on my lap for a Sunday afternoon nap.

We first got her when she was so tiny that we had to bottle feed her because her mommy had abandoned her. She would sometimes sleep at our feet or even sleep on our feet at night. She was a sweet and loving part of our family that will never be forgotten and could never be replaced!

We are heart broken! She had only been a part of our family for five years. Next time you come down the road, think about how fast you are going and think about our family mourning the loss of our princess, our baby girl, our Tory!

As a Christian, I am supposed to forgive you. That will come in time. Right now, I am hurt and angry and so very sad!!

Dear Lady-Before you write to put some one on a guilt trip lets look at the facts. You evidently do not know whether the person driving the vehecle was speeding or not .The cat may have have ran directly in front of the vehecle with no way for the driver to avoid the cat.If you loved the cat as much as you say you did why was not the cat at on your property instead of in the road?I love my children but I do not put them out to roam the area I live in .Cats walk on cars and leave marks while other people love the car and not cats.If you want to blame some one blame yourself for not keeping the cat in a safe place.Lock it up,people will steal almost anything these days, even a cat. Will you then blame the thief for your lack of concern for your cat?Judgement should begin at home with the individual.Read the book, does the maker love animals or the one who has dominion over the animals?Adopt an unwanted baby (any color )and be blessed.

I would just like to comment on the reply of easy3 if I may. It may sound to you that she is trying to put a guilt-trip on the person that ran over her cat, but what I read was a lady that obviously is in alot of pain from her loss. People use differnt avenues to grieve their loss and this may have been her only way to vent her anger. I also agree with her that the driver should have at least stopped and checked to see if the animal was still alive and went to the house where it was hit, you know back when I was little that is what I was taught by my parents and grandparents...its just respectfull and neighborly, something americans have seemed to have lost. Mrs. Hutchinson, I too am an animal lover and have a pet of my own, I am very sorry for your families loss, and pray God will comfort you in this time.
