Three men have been arrested on drug possession charges after an early morning drug bust, according to the Rockingham Police Department.

On Saturday, Feb. 18, the Rockingham Police Department S.W.A.T team executed a search warrant on 117 South Grove Ave., Rockingham. The search warrant was executed in response to an ongoing investigation into drug activity in the East Washington Street area by the Rockingham Police Department Vice/Narcotics Division, according to Interim Police Chief Major Billy Kelly.

The investigation began months ago when members of the community made numerous complaints about the residence, which led to the police department utilizing all its resources during the probe, including surveillance and other tools.

Upon execution of the search warrant, it became clear that the complaints were well founded with numerous narcotics being seized, as well as drug paraphernalia, police said. Forrest Blue Jr., 40, of the listed residence, was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana and maintaining a residence for the sale of narcotics, according to police.

Blue allegedly had seven outstanding warrants for assault, probation violation and child support.

Also being charged was Darrell Preston Ford, 34, of the same residence, who was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a residence for the sale of narcotics, and habitual felon, said police. Both men were placed in the Richmond County Jail under a $50,000 bond.

“This search warrant is the second to be served in the East Washington Street area within the last two weeks, in an effort to help out the community, who continues to support the police department by making these phone calls and letting us know what is going on in their community,” said Major Kelly.

In another case, a second search warrant was executed by the Rockingham Police Department S.W.A.T Team on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 210 Great Falls Circle where Harold Lamont Brewington, 23, of the listed address, was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for the sale of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. Brewington was placed in the Richmond County Jail under a $5000 bond.

This arrest was also based upon information received from concerned citizens in the community, police said, and is part of an ongoing investigation by the Rockingham Police Department Vice/Narcotics Division.
