Don’t look down your nose at me

Dear Editor,

How many times have retired Democrats talking to me made fun of the Tea-party and Republicans? Some of these people are drawing a $3,000 monthly pension. Don’t they realize if we don’t rein in spending and bring down the deficit they could lose that fat check? And use people with our little Social Security check could lose too. They don’t realize we are all in the same boat.

To show how foolish they are they even think F.D. Roosevelt was the President that started Social Security. It’s just not true. It was Herbert Hoover that drew up the bill that started Social Security and he was a Republican. The Democrats jumped on the bandwagon and tried to take credit. Also Roosevelt was a Progressive, which is first cousin to Communism. They are the ones on the wrong side (Democrats). So they should not look down their nose at me.

I was raised up on a cotton mill village and have not gotten above my raising. I appreciate textiles today for the food I had to eat. And I also have to say I appreciate my parents for the hard work and the great love they showed for me. None of us in East Rockingham will ever forget. We thought we were rich but I guess it was all that love.

Fred S. Caudle

Telltales, obama hasn't done anything to avoid a depression. Everything he tried has failed. He's guilty of misinforming the public when he said that he avoided a depression. It hasn't been avoided. Unemployment is going up every month.

We know he is a cyinical liar - the rcent records that Fox was forced to sue in order to obtain from the White House proves that.

When Obama ran for the presidency his goal was to "change" this nation from Capitalism into Socialism. He's finding it more difficult than he thought.

BTW Obama's predecessor accomplished his mission. He captured the individual that he intended to capture. And this predecessor had to rebuild a military that the Clinton administration had cut in half.

osamayamama, I don't know exactly how much he has had to pony up to keep this country out of a depression. However, I would hasten to add it was probably much less than the $1.3 Trillion dollars his predecessor spent in his failed attempts to get bin Laden.

Mrs. Wheeler, You are living proof that with age does not omes wisdom. According to the Congressional Record Volume 147, Number 109(Tuesday July 31, 2001). The railroad retirement system has "paid out" more than it has taken in every year since "1957". The shortfall since 1957 is $90 Billion dollars and counting. This was money taxpayers had to pony up to bail out the GREAT RAILROAD RETIREMENT SYSTEM you are so proud of. Great job!

Do not credit FDR with ending the depression for He did not - It was WW2- None of his programs worked. Until the war began unemployment was 15 percent.

Social Security is the worst retirment system in the world. FDR should have done as the railroad and set up a retirment system separate from government control. Instead he set it up so government could control the people.

The teaparty is gaining strength -It is only those who lean toward Socialism, Facistm and anti-Capitalism Their fear has caused them to go ballistic. They are trying desperately to stop those who want America to return to the principles and values that America was founded on. 'God and Country' is still our priority. As long as we keep it that way, we will be victorious.

Obama's plan to 'change' our values system has, so far, backfired.

"Simpleton"

:someone who is not very intelligent or who does not have or show good sense or judgment

:a person lacking in common sense

:A person who is felt to be deficient in judgment, good sense, or intelligence; a fool.

Education is the antidote for simpleton-ism, not Fox News, The National Enquirer, The Baptist Church or your gossiping neighbor.

Telltales is correct, Mr. Caudle. You need to do your research before you present your opinion. FDR implemented social security and many work programs to assist the unemployed. Hoover, on the other hand, was busy installing wiretaps to insure his long term government position, blackmailing government officials, all while carrying on a long term homosexual relationship. True, he did develop the FBI and improved crime fighting policies. Are you sure you want to emulate Hoover?

Mr. Caudle, You do not know what you are talking about.President Hoover never had anything to do with Social Security. He and his policies just like President Obama's predecessor caused this country to fall into a recession because of tax cuts for the wealthy, and help for corporations instead of people. President Hoover said he did not mind providing feed for animals but not for humans.

In the middle of the Great Depression while people were standing in soup lines and having to sell apples on the streets President Hoover was living the high life. In the summer of 1932 a Movietone News crew filmed the president feeding a t-bone steak to his dog in the Rose Garden. This is the great president you are so proud of!
