Mr. Calvin D. Rush of Rockingham died on Monday, March 2, 2009 in New Jersey.

He was born on June 10, 1953 to the late Eli and Wilma Rush. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ; educated in the Richmond County Schools, served in the U. S. Army and was employed with the Irvington Board of Education and the VA Hospital.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, 986 Ledbetter Rd., Rockingham, with the Rev. Jamael Brown, Interim Pastor and Rev. Annette Covington, officiating. Burial will follow in the Rush Family Cemetery, Rockingham.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Rodney Blue, two sisters, Willa and Ella; three brothers, Thomas, Eli, and Willie-Boy.

Public viewing will be held on Wednesday from 1-7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Service of Rockingham.

He is survived by four daughters, LaTosha Aldrina Bivens, Ladwana Denise Covington, both of Hamlet, Nyasia and Layonni Rush of Summit, NJ; two sons, Derek Jermaine Bivens of Hamlet and Antwan Rush of Rockingham; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Inez Wright of Irvington, NJ, Louise Graham of Newark, NJ, Hattie McGee of Neptune, NJ and Muzetta Pettiford of Hillsborough; three brothers, Robert B. Rush of Neptune, NJ, Isaiah Rush of Rockingham and Lyndon Rush of Irvington, NJ.

Nelson Funeral Service in Rockingham is in charge of services.
