Mr. Robert Blair Marshall, III, 63, of Rockingham died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at his home. He was born August 30, 1949 in Mecklenburg County, a son of the late Virginia Dare Smith Marshall and Robert Blair Marshall, Jr.
Bobby was an active and faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Rockingham, where he served on the Finance and Nominating Committees. He was the owner of Marshall’s Office Supply, after having started with American Office Supply. Bobby was a member of the Rockingham Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a former Chair and Director of the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Richmond County Tourism Board. Bobby was active with Toys for Tots. He served in the U.S. Air Force, serving two tours in Vietnam.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, January 20th at First United Methodist Church in Rockingham with Rev. Mike Sykes and Rev. Allison Farrah officiating. Interment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park with military honors.
Bobby is survived by his mother, Ouida Marshall Lucas, five sisters, Norma Underwood of Rockingham, Sondra Honrine and husband Russ of Rockingham, Linda Brown and husband Don of Myrtle Beach, SC, Debbie Simpson and husband Ted of Marshville, and Patricia Cassella and husband Larry of Worchester, MA; nieces and nephews, Blake Moschel, Kevin Johnson, Wendi Simpson Howard, Coleton Brown, Larry Cassella, and Matthew Cassella. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Dare Smith Marshall and Robert Blair Marshall, Jr., and nephew, Cameron Simpson.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 to 8 pm at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the Lucas’ home, 113 Russell Dr., Rockingham.
