Mr. James Dallas “Cotton” Saunders, Sr.,76, of 249 Ledbetter Street, Cordova, died, Friday, September 16, 2011, at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital, Rockingham.
He was born October 23, 1934, in Richmond County, son of Willard Horace Saunders and Lottie Johnson Saunders.
He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and previously worked in textiles.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Harrington Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm
At other times the family will meet at his daughter’s home, 111 Trent Street, Cordova.
The Funeral will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Monday, September 19, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Trevor Foster and Rev. Chuck McKnight officiating. Burial will follow in the Church’s cemetery.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Essie Atkinson Saunders; and a sister, Ida Mae Treadaway.
Survivors include his daughter, Trudy Jones of Cordova; son, James D. “Cotton” Saunders, Jr. of Cordova; brother, Boyce Saunders of Hamlet; sister, Johnsie Sinner of Nebraska; seven grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.
Harrington Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Saunders family.
