All-Chevy show set for ‘The Rock’

The Super Chevy Show at Rockingham Dragway is scheduled for Friday through Sunday. The event will feature all GM drag races, a car show and a swap meet. The show will feature jet-powered 1941 Willys, the world’s fastest wheel-stander and pro mods. Daily admission is $20 for adults and children under 12 are $5. Golf tournament set for Richmond athletics

A four-person Captain’s Choice golf tournament to benefit Richmond Senior athletics is scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 1 at Foxfire Resort and Golf Club in Foxfire Village. The cost is $75 per person or $300 for a team and includes greens fee, cart fee and lunch. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams as well as closest to the pin and longest drive. There will also be a putting contest and the opportunity to win a car with a hole-in-one. Hole sponsorships are available. Tournament to raise money for Ratliffe

The 2 Strong Golf Tournament and fundraiser is set for Saturday at Cypress Creek Golf Course in Laurinburg. The cost is $40 per player and there will be a longest drive and closest pin competitions. A 50/50 skins game will also take place. First-, second-, and third-place finishers will be awarded trophies. Food and beverage will be provided. Hamlet accepting youth football signups

Registration for youth football in Hamlet will continue until Friday. The cost is $30 for flag football (children 6 to 8 years of age) and $50 for junior (9 to 10) and senior (11 to 12) football. Registrations are accepted at the Hamlet City Hall. There will be a late sign-up period from Oct. 6 to 10, there will be an additional $10 charge for each children registered during this time. Players will be placed in leagues by their age as of April 30 of this year. There is also a weight limit for players. A mandatory weigh-in beginning at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at Memorial Park. Cheerleading registrations will also be accepted at the same time and is open to children from 5 to 14 years of age. The cost is $15 and does not include uniform and accessories.

Youth volleyball signups ongoing

Signups for the City of Rockingham’s girls youth volleyball league will run through Monday. The leagues are open to girls from 8 to 15 years of age. The cost is $20 for city residents and $25 for non-city players, there will also be a $6 insurance fee if not currently insured by the Parks and Recreation Department. Participants must be 8 and cannot turn 16 on or before Jan. 1. For information, contact the department at 910-895-6810.
