ROCKINGHAM — In its final home meet of the season, the Richmond Senior girls track team knocked off Purnell Swett and Scotland.

Breanna Everett, Daesha Everette and Hilda Horthe all finished first in two individual events for the Raiders. Everett won the 100- and 200-meter dash, Everette claimed the discus and shot put, while Horthe took the 800 and 1,600.

Also finishing first for Richmond was Bri David in 100 hurdles and Asiana Douglas in the 300 hurdles.

Richmond’s 4x100, 4x200 and 4x800 relay teams were victorious.

“When you practice hard, you get results,” Richmond girls coach Reggie Miller said. “The team that works hard, finishes hard and we did that today.”

On the boys side, Richmond placed first in four individual events as well as the 4x200 relay to finish second behind Scotland.

Lavell Ellerbe was first in the long jump, Brent Flowers won the triple jump, Alphonso Jones took the shot put and Travis Newton won the 200.

Miller added the final results should be available today.

Both of Richmond’s track teams will return to action 4 p.m. Wednesday at Hoke. It will be a rare five-school Southeastern Conference meet because Pinecrest will be on Spring Break next week.
