NCHSAA releases ADM numbers
Richmond, Pinecrest locks for 4AA bracket
By Shawn Stinson
ROCKINGHAM — There were no surprises amongst the three Southeastern Conference schools guaranteed a spot in the football playoffs with the release of the Average Daily Membership numbers.
Richmond Senior is the 14th largest school in the state with 2,344 students, Pinecrest is 24th with 2,150 students and Scotland is 55th with 1,780 students.
As it stands currently after plugging in the teams into the brackets with either a guaranteed spot in the 4A playoffs or ones with at least five victories there will only be one wild-card berth available come Saturday morning.
This doesn’t include or forecast Friday’s contests where those five-win schools could turn into six-win squads or the teams with four victories put another on the board to inch up to five.
If everything were to hold true, Richmond and Pinecrest would be placed in the 4AA bracket, while Scotland would slide down to the 4A classification by the selection committee.
Looking at the geography breakdown as to whether the Raiders would go east or west is still up in the air. Richmond will have to watch the scoreboard Friday night because early projections see the team going west, but this depends on the results from those bubble teams.
Since 2001, the Raiders have been sent to the west bracket 10 times and to the east just twice, including last season.
