H.L. “Boo” Truett, age 44, of Patrick, S.C., went to be with his Lord in his sleep on Friday, Dec., 13, 2013.


Truett was born Sept. 18, 1969, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Polly Dixon McKenzie and the late Harry Lee Truett. H.L. was better known as “Boo” to his family and friends. He lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing, camping, working on his old cars and spending time with his friends and family.


In addition to his father, Boo was also preceded in death by two brothers, Randy and Jerry Truett, who have already went to meet the Lord.


Truett leaves behind two daughters, Ashley (Vern) Murphy of McBee, S.C. and Elizabeth (Colby) Truett of Jefferson, S.C.; one granddaughter, 18 months old, who was his heart and everything, Kinnidi Grace “Cooter” Murphy; a very special mother, Polly McKenzie, who never left her son’s side; a brother, Jimmy (Tracy) Truett of Hamlet; three sisters, Joann (John) Linn of Patrick, S.C., Betty Jean (Jay) Ingram and Elaine (Dean) Starling both of Rockingham; and also six nephews and three nieces.


Visitation is from 5 p.m. until funeral time on Monday at the home of Polly McKenzie, 496 Gunn Mill Road, Patrick, SC 29584.


The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Edwards Chapel Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery
