Mrs. Johnnie Mae Richardson Wheeler, 88, of 589 Freeman Mill Road, Hamlet, died, Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.
She was born in Rockhill, S.C. on Aug. 18, 1925. She was the daughter of Jesse Franklin Richardson and Elizabeth Marie Rush Richardson.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an active member of Living Waters Pentecostal Holiness Church, Hamlet.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her life long love of 59 years, Late Kenny “Foxy” Wheeler.
Survivors include her three sons, Lenny Wheeler and wife Pete of Hamlet, Bobby Wheeler and Sharon Reid of Pinehurst, and Gary Wheeler and wife Sue of Hamlet; sister, Evelyn R. Beaver of Clermont, Fla.; sister-in-law, Peggy Richardson of Dudley, N.C.; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; Robby Wheeler and wife Lisa, Taylor and Hailey, Kim Wheeler Grant and husband Tim, William and Bennett, Trey Wheeler and wife Nikki, Colin and Hayden, Beth Gentry and husband Jason, Reece and Peyton, Emily Kidder and husband Dale, Drew, Mason and Emma Grey, Richie Wheeler and wife Paula, Hannah and Grayson and Allison Smith and husband Jimmy, Taylor, Patrick and Jake.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at Harrington Funeral Home.
At other times the family will receive friends at 589 Freeman Mill Road, Hamlet.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fellowship United Methodist Church, Hamlet, with Rev. Albert Ivey and Rev. David Woosley officiating. Burial will followed at Richmond Memorial Park.
