HAMLET — Richmond County residents needn’t go out of town to plan weddings, formal parties and other special events.

Local businesses will feature the goods and services they offer to help customers plan for their big day when the Celebrate! Events Showcase comes to Richmond Community College’s Cole Auditorium on Sunday. The showcase is planned from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event, sponsored by RCC, The Bridal Nook, Belk, Dorsett Printing and Ward Productions, is open to brides, grooms, event planners, friends, family and the public.

Sharon Nichols, show organizer, described the event as a regional wedding and party planning expo showcasing event professionals for weddings as well as business, charity and school events.

“This will be an elegant, lovely event, and people should come regardless of when their event is,” said Nichols. “It’s such a wonderful shopping experience that they can plan the entire wedding or banquet at the show. And there will be prizes given away to the brides.”

Brides and event planners will be entered into the prize drawings twice if they register in advance at www.celebrate-events-showcase.com.

Nichols said the show’s goal is to gather merchants together to show brides, grooms and event planners what is available locally. According to Nichols, many people who plan weddings and business or school functions often think they need to go to Raleigh or Charlotte to find everything they will need.

“The showcase offers a variety of services, even shooting sports for corporate or team-building activities, and the vendors who are coming are excellent providers,”said Nichols. “This will be a fun afternoon, and if you are planning a party or know anyone who is getting married, tell them to come.”

Any wedding or events professionals who want more information on Sunday’s expo can contact Nichols through the showcase website.

Admission is free for adults 18 and older.
