SOUTHERN PINES — A Richmond County man accused of absconding from probation seven years ago was arrested Friday on outstanding warrants from 2008 and 2009.
Southern Pines police charged 40-year-old Esteban Antonio Montiel of 115 Jones Webster Road outside Hoffman with driving an unregistered vehicle, operating a vehicle with no insurance, driving while impaired and violating the conditions of his probation, according to jail booking records.
Offense dates are listed as April 16, 2008 and March 20 and May 20 of 2009. Moore County deputies took out the charges.
The N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction lists Montiel as a probation absconder on its website and asks anyone with information on his whereabouts to call a toll-free number. His Friday arrest ends a seven-year search.
Records show Montiel was serving probation on a February 2009 conviction of driving while license revoked in Richmond County.
Montiel was booked into the Moore County Detention Center in Carthage under a combined $6,200 secured bond.
