A severe thunderstorm dumped heavy rain on Richmond County and temporarily knocked out power in downtown Rockingham Thursday afternoon.

In the photo at left, certified public accountant Mike Teal guides sister Toni Dickerson into a parking space in front of his 125 E. Washington St. office as rain floods the street.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for the county on Thursday, and there’s a 40 percent chance of more rain in Friday’s forecast. Rockingham may see thunderstorms in the afternoon and skies will be mostly cloudy with a high temperature around 83 degrees, according to the weather service.
