HAMLET — Two women are accused of beating up a neighbor, leaving visible injuries.

According to warrants, Ashely Harrington, 25, and Anna Rachelle McRae, 33, both of Taylor Street in Hamlet, attacked another woman living on the same street Wednesday.

McRae stuck the victim in the face leaving a mark and Harrington hit the victim “about the chest and “in the back of the head leaving a knot,” warrants state.

McRae and Harrington were arrested and each charged with a misdemeanor count of assault and battery. Both were released on a written promise to appear in court.

Court records show McRae is currently facing felony charges of forgery of an instrument, uttering a forged instrument and attempting to obtain property by false pretenses in Scotland County.

According to the N.C. Department of Public Safety, McRae served five months in prison for a conviction of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance in 2002. Harrington was convicted of shoplifting in Guilford County in 2007.
