ROCKINGHAM — Sheriff’s deputies have charged a 31-year-old city man with selling prescription painkillers.

McKinnon is charged with trafficking opium, selling or delivering a Schedule III controlled substance and possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance.

McKinnon was confined in the Richmond County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.

He was previously released in October 2013 after serving four months for a 2010 DWI conviction, according to N.C. Division of Adult Correction records.

McKinnon has also previously been convicted of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, communicating threats, assault on a female and possession of a weapon on campus.
