ROCKINGHAM — Richmond Community Theatre is in the midst of a superhero takeover as it hosts its two-week Young People’s Theatre camp until Aug. 1.
The 14 children in the camp are working on an original play about silly superheroes. The program will culminate in a final performance at 7 p.m. at Cole Plaza outside City Hall on Aug. 1. The performance is free and open to the public.
The tuition fee includes 30 hours over two weeks with multiple arts teachers. Children have made their own masks and will be able to keep them. They will also receive a camp T-shirt and the camp will conclude with a pizza party.
Before the performance, the camp will hold a children’s parade from Harrington Square, just outside of the theatre, to Cole Plaza where all children from the community are invited to dress as superheroes and walk with actors from the theatre to the performance space.
The Young People’s Theatre is funded through a Rockingham Rotary Club grant.
