ROCKINGHAM — Two assault cases with multiple accused assailants have led to felony charges being filed.
According to arrest warrants obtained from the Richmond County Clerk of Superior Court’s office, three men are accused in an attack that left Joshua Dominique Ellerbe with serious injuries: including a 1.5 centimeter laceration of his upper lip, closed with four sutures; a 2.5 centimeter laceration of his lower inner lip, closed with two sutures; left side rib pain; facial swelling; and a fractured jaw.
The alleged incident occurred on Wednesday, warrants show.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office charged 21-year-old Kevin Robert Williams, arrested the same day, 40-year-old Larry James Swinnie Jr. and 30-year-old Bryant R. Little, both arrested Thursday, each with one felony count of assault with serious bodily injury.
They were each given a $150,000 secured bond and ordered not to have contact with the alleged victim.
Online court records show each man already has multiple pending charges.
Little is facing charges of being a habitual felon, possession of a firearm by a felon, possessing, selling or buying a gun with an altered serial number; and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Swinnie is facing six felony child sex abuse charges and Little is facing misdemeanor charges of assault on a female, communicating threats and violating probation.
Another incident, from June 23 has eight men charged with assaulting Curtis Edward Johnson with their hands, fists and feet.
Deputies charged 21-year-old Stephon Jewlton Easterling, 22-year-old Aaron Swade Ford, 18-year-old Marion Devonte Ellerbe, 22-year-old Traviyon Dyvonte Freeman, 20-year-old Devion Marquis Ward, 23-year-old James Ronnie Tyler II, 21-year-old Trevon Leslie and 20-year-old James Christopher Roth with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
No bond information was available for Roth, but all the others were given a $150,000 secured bond and ordered not to have contact with the victim.
Five of the eight defendants are already facing charges in Richmond County shootings.
Ellerbe and Leslie are accused in March 19 shooting spree, charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, attempted murder and several counts of property damage; Ward is facing charges stemming from a June 20 shooting in Hamlet and unrelated assault charges; Tyler was charged in the April 23 shooting of Harold Brewington in Rockingham; and Freeman is charged in a July 2015 shooting on Cartledge Creek Road.
Ford has pending felony charges including breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering.
Roth and Easterling currently have no scheduled court appearances, online court records show.
Easterling was convicted in May on one felony count each of larceny, breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering, according to the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction.
Documents show all 11 defendants are due in court July 14.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
