RALEIGH — State Rep. Ken Goodman, D-Richmond, has been appointed to three joint General Assembly study panels.

House Speaker Tim Moore, R-Cleveland, announced the appointments last week. Goodman will serve on the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Economic Development and Global Engagement, the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Capital Improvements and the Joint Legislative Commission on Energy Policy.

“The General Assembly took several positive steps forward this past session on economic development, capital improvements and energy policy,” Goodman said in a statement. “I am proud of the work we have accomplished and look forward to working on these important oversight committees.”

Goodman is serving his third term representing Richmond, Scotland, Montgomery, Hoke and Robeson counties in House District 66. He is vice chairman of the regulatory reform and commerce and job development committees and also serves on the community colleges, finance, health, rules and transportation committees.

Goodman is founder and chairman of the N.C. Main Street Democrats Legislative Caucus, a group of 22 pro-business Democrats who have reached across the aisle to work with Republican leadership on job creation, education and community investment issues.

The Richmond County lawmaker has announced plans to run for a fourth term in the House in 2016.
